Kagame for second presidential term


Image removed.KIGALI - It has been rumoured, but it has now become official that the incumbent president of Rwanda His Excellency Paul Kagame has been confirmed to represent his party Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) for 2010 presidential candidature.
President Kagame has been also the chairman of now the ruling party since its helm which also earned him triumph victory in 2003 when he was voted for the presidency. A wide range of RPF campaign is filling the whole country as different members of the party rejuvenate their will and commitment to serve the country. President Kagame has just concluded part of his country wide on ground tour aimed at solving and discussing problems facing citizens in different parts of the country. It is more likely that he will continue similar tours across the country attending one on one problem as he assigns government officials or commissions to cater for some specific problems. The president who has been nominated by his party will be in this year’s presidential race and elections is scheduled to take place August 9 though there is no outstanding rival after his strongest rival ended in court for inciting the population.  The rival Miss Victory Ingabire was arrested for uttering seditious statement when she arrived in the country to register her party. Hundreds of party supporters have gathered in different parts of country in search of who can compete with the incumbent president but he was finally confirmed at RPF national congress on Sunday. Amidst applauds from over 30,000 party members who filled the Amahoro national stadium, the incumbent president was officially endorsed RPF’s 2010 presidential candidate. In his acceptance speech, President Kagame said that he would not have taken on the responsibilities if he wasn’t confident of the support from the party members. Kagame, pointed out that he has confidence in the people and that it was the reason he always accepted the tasks they assigned to him. He highlighted some of his party’s main goals like good governance, economic development, security as well as improving the welfare of all the Rwandan people. The President re-affirmed his commitment to focus on the goals and called on his compatriots to work with him in achieving them. President Kagame stressed that Rwandans have everything it takes to move to a higher level. However, he added that, in the past bad governance and the lack of good policies had adversely affected the country’s growth. Kagame reminded his audience that good leadership, while not easy to achieve, is possible. A team of over 20 campaigning people led Cristopher Bazivamo also the vice chairman of the party was also announced on Sunday to kick off well the campaigns for the incumbent president.
